Fresh air amongst the diverse fynbos, with spectacular views of Walker Bay



Attention all nature lovers! Go for a hike in the spectacular mountain backdrop to Hermanus that is Fernkloof Nature Reserve. See unique coastal and mountain fynbos which is extremely species rich with many peculiar and rare plants. Spot some small antelope, mongoose, dassie and even baboons. More than 100 birds have been identified, with Cape Sugarbird, Sunbird, Rock Thrush and Rock Jumper in abundance. Even raptors like the Jackal Buzzard and Black Eagle can be spotted if lucky. You will be rewarded with splendid panoramic views of Walker Bay.

You will start the day with a short briefing at the start of the trail. You’ll go over safety instructions and a gear check before leaving. 

You will follow your knowledgable guide (he has a degree in Conservation Ecology) as he leads you on the trail, sharing some insights, pointing out various plants and animals, and learning about the uniqueness of fynbos. 

Be sure to bring a camera as you will want to capture the amazing panoramic views of Walker Bay.
