Welcome to the Mother City! On this full-day tour you have to prepare yourself to have all your senses entertained. Get ready for warm Capetonian hospitality, the imposing backdrop of Table Mountain, spectacular ocean views, and the cosmopolitan ambience in this vibrant city.
Sir Edmund Hilary (Mount Everest fame) couldn’t have put it better: “There is probably no more spectacular place in the world than Cape Town and Table Mountain at the tip of Africa.”
Go up Table Mountain by cable car and enjoy unrivaled, breathtaking views. Drive along popular Camps Bay and the Sea Point promenade. Witness the firing of the Noon Gun on Signal Hill. Walk through historic Bo-Kaap with its colourful houses. Stop for lunch at a traditional Cape Malay restaurant. Go to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, with its unique and indigenous plant and tree species, all with the imposing mountain looming over you. Learn about our floral kingdom, and what makes it that special. You’ll finish off the tour with a wine tasting, at the place where it all started – Constantia Wine Estate, the first and oldest wine estate in South Africa.
Going up Table Mountain is a momentous occasion. You’re standing on a mountain six times older than the Himalayas and five times older than the Rockies! From the top you’ll have big views that you won’t forget any time soon.
Afterwards you’ll drive through popular Camps Bay and past the Sea Point promenade. You’ll proceed to Signal Hill where you will witness the firing of the Noon Gun, which goes off every day at noon. The next stop would be the historic Bo-Kaap area with its famous colourful houses. You’ll walk around and take it all in while your guide explains a bit about the interesting history. For lunch you will have the opportunity to eat at a traditional Cape Malay restaurant in the heart of the Bo-Kaap, Biesmiellah.
You will then head to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, one of the world’s greatest botanical and horticultural institutions. It’s filled with over 7,000 cultivated tree and plant species! Enjoy the tranquil atmosphere in the presence of the majestic mountains, whilst exploring the various unique indigenous plant species of the Cape Floral Kingdom.
Your final stop of the day will be at the oldest wine estate in South Africa – Groot Constantia. You’ll get to see great examples of typical Cape Dutch architecture on the premises. Enjoy a wine tasting of award-winning wines in a unique tasting room decorated with beautiful art.
